Drs,
I’ve searched the forum/website and believe this has yet to be asked. If it has, please feel free to redirect me to the post.
I’m changing GPs for a couple of reasons, mainly because his general attitude has been, “You’re 30. Why are you here for an annual.” Yes, I am healthy in the broad sense of the term (Male, 5’7", 169, 32" waist, exceed the general activity guidelines and have a healthy diet 75% of the time) but there are a few thing’s I’ve been learning from BBM and other sources that I feel the Dr has failed to address. Last year (about 6 lbs heavier), my blood pressure was 138/76, my total cholesterol of 199, and a fasted blood glucose of 99. He knows I have a family history of type 2 (mom’s side) and heart issues (dad’s side) and my old GP said nothing. I plan on asking my new GP about these previous results.
First question: Am I overanalyzing these previous results or is it worth asking about?
It’s been previously mentioned on the forum that referrals are usually the best way to find a good GP. But my network for finding a good GP is limited.
Second question: What questions would you ask a new GP to assess if they’re a “good” fit?
Thank you for your time,
dsjoe
