Some friends are are experimenting with boron supplementation to raise their testosterone. I’m assuming that’s not something you recommend.
My question though is whether there is any evidence of boron supplementation being harmful at a dosage of 3-5mg per day.

Any supplement can be harmful, particularly if it’s contaminated or spiked. That said, if the benefit of supplementation outweighs this risk, you could make a case for supplementing anyway. Boron supplementation does precisely nothing though, so 10/10 would not recommend.
