Clear Whey Protein Isolate

Hi Jordan,

I wanted to ask if you have any thoughts on if “clear” whey protein isolate is a good source of protein. I don’t drink protein shakes often, but some days if I haven’t gotten enough protein to meet the 1.6 grams/kg guideline then I will drink a whey protein isolate shake. But, I don’t really like the taste or texture of protein powders so I’m interested in trying this “clear” protein powder that is more like a fruity, watery drink. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say the brand here but the one I was looking at is the one from MyProtein. If this helps, it has 20 grams of protein per serving, ~90 calories, and very few ingredients.

Thanks for all the good information you guys put out!

“Clear” protein is a marketing gimmick, but yes, a whey protein supplement would be helpful to meet protein targets in your situation.

All whey protein isolates are going to have similar textures regardless of flavoring, though the gum content can adjust this a bit. If the specific supplement is cGMP accredited and is batch-tested by a 3rd party for purity, then it should be good to go.

I’d put our whey up against anyone’s, but there are certainly other options.
