Hi Drs
I hadn’t heard of this supplement before but was chatting with a fellow kidney transplantee, and he told me about Coenzyme Q10 and said his consultant advised him that he thought all CKD patients would be deficient and hence should supplement with it. He’s in the US, I’m in the UK and had never heard of it before.
From a fairly quick online search it looks like there’s relatively limited research out there on its use in this population. Based on what I can see documented, mechanistically I can see why it might be theorised as being beneficial to CKD patients, and may especially be helpful for higher intensity exercise, such as sprinting.
Is this something you’ve seen suggested for CKD patients?
I searched the forum and saw Austin suggesting it as a possibility for migraines, but again a caveat there that research was promising, or along those lines.
Many thanks
Matt
