Hi, I don’t have a question, but thought it might be interesting to share my experience getting CV-19 tested over the weekend. My doctor recommended I get the test, and our local hospital started doing tests last week. It all went very smoothly and was well organized. I received a call for scheduling, and once scheduled (next day) was given instructions to drive to their makeshift clinic. I say makeshift b/c it was raining and they had to move their facility from prior location. They did it in a closed off part of a parking garage. I was told clearly that the test would be done while in your car, and there would be no need at any point to get out of the car. Once I entered the facility, I was given a number to call to confirm I was on the list and proceed. There were a few cars in front of me (I arrived a little early). Within about five mins I pulled up to the nurses (two) on site. They weren’t quite in haz-mat suits but not far off. It looked very dystopian. They confirmed picture ID and walked me through the test. I was to blow my nose into a tissue for 10 secs (and then dispose of the tissue myself). They then stuck a swab up my nose. Prior to doing so the nurse noted that I might have some tears and not to worry about it. I’m sure I felt the swab graze that the inside back of my skull given how high they swabbed but I guess they want to make sure they get the specimen. There were tears indeed. Once done, they bottled it up, and as I drove off they replaced their gloves and the large aprons they were wearing over their suits. They had a large bin with prior suits, gloves and other disposables. All in, it prob took about 15 mins. I was told different times when they’d call with results, but consensus was 12-48hrs. They said I would receive a call if I had the virus, and an email if I didn’t. After three days of not hearing anything I asked my doc to look into it and was told results were negative. I’m fortunate to live in an area where we a hospital authorized to test and I suspect the system will continue to be improved but it was pretty efficient even as of end of last week.
