Elevayed creatinine and lower GFReEPI

Hi,

So I had a blood work done for unrelated things and there was some “flukes” on the values.

First test was drawn 14.3.2019:
This test was fasted 12 hours prior.

  • Urinary creatinine 11.8mmol/l (2.3-23.5)
  • P-Krea (blood creatinine) 101 (60-100)
  • Pt- GFRrEPI 86 (>89)

Because of those values the doctor wanted to do a second bloodwork and it came out 19.7.2019

This was not fasted, I did go to the gym about 1-2 hours before this test.

P-Krea 125
Pt-GFReEPI 67

All other values on both tests were in the normal range.

I’m 30, ~87kg, ~85cm waist

Just finishing up the legacy strenght template

Taking 5g creatine daily and also beta alanine and citruline malate daily.

Could the suplementation cause these fluctuations on blood creatinine? Or the fact that I had just been in the gym priot to the second test?

I’m having a consultation with a primary care doctor also but I really would like to have your thoughts on this.

Thanks!

Tino

I had to convert some of these values into more familiar American units (Cr 1.15 at first to 1.41 on the second draw). This is a significant change and, while we do have some evidence that acute creatine supplementation can precipitate such changes, I think getting this rechecked and potentially evaluated further is wise.

Thanks for the answer. And sorry for the trouble of conversion.

The doctor that I talked to was quite certain that it could be because of my gym hobby, So she decided to re do the test in about a month or so with 3 days off of gym prior. Do you think that this is good approach?

She also said that there is no way that oraly taken creatine could enter the blood stream. This was odd in my opinion…

I’ll post an update when I know more.

I’m not sure exactly what she means by your “gym hobby”. That is probably a reasonable approach.

She doesn’t know what she’s talking about here.

She said that because I go to the gym 4 to 6 times per week it could cause this elevation on these markers.
