Episleritis and training

Hello
I have an uncommon case of Episcleritis.
About 6 months ago, I had it in my right eye. I went to the ER and got Treated by Dexamethasone + Neomycin Sulphate (eye drops called Dethamycin), and in about 24-48 hours it was 100% gone.
I had blood tests which came good (I will add them at the end). So the doctor that have seen me outside ER, 3 days afterwards, said there is no Episcleritis and it probably wasn’t but now everything is okay so I shall stop taking the steroids. The doctor at the ER was an intern, so I listened to the second one and stopped the steroids.

2 days ago it came back to the same eye. 6 months ago it was the lateral side of the eye, 2 days ago the inferior side. Went to the ER, diagnosed by Episcleritis again (by the same doctor 6 months ago, maybe still an intern) and got Diclofenac Sodium by drops. It’s better now in terms of pain, but it’s still red, but a brighter red.
Today, I have trained, squatted only 120kg (PR is 197.5kg, so light), and I think it was after the last warm up with 110kg that I felt something uncomfortable in my left eye and took a look in the mirror and seen what I already recognise as Episcleritis. I have no idea whether it has been like that before the squat, but the pain started during the session. Maybe coincidence, I don’t know.
Anyway, finished the light session and went to the ER where the eye doctor (also an intern, but a diferrent one) diagnosed Episcleritis in both eyes.
I will have a consultation with a famous and probably very good eye specialst at Thursday.

In the meantime, do you have any recommendations regarding training with it? Everyone I have asked said that there should be no problem. But maybe you know something they don’t. Or maybe you know something about it in general that I shall know.

These are the blood tests from 6 months ago, after the first Episcleritis:
ENA PROFILE - Negative
ANA PATTERN - Negative
ANA TITER - Negative 1:160
C-REACTIVE PROTEIN - 0.13mg/dL (range is 0-0.50)
COMPLEMENT C3 - 130.2 mg/dL (range is 90.0-180.0)
COMPLEMENT C4 - 37.1 mg/dL (range is 10.0 - 40.0)
RHEUMATOID FACTOR - <10

What do you think?

Thank you very much in advance

Hi,

Those labs are reassuring to rule out several common causes of episcleritis, but I would agree with the plan to see an ophthalmologist for outpatient consultation in your case.

With that said, I’m not aware of any relationship or problem with respect to training here.

Thank you very much for the answer,
The ophthalmologist said it’s no big deal and to keep the treatment and if it doesn’t go away, to come back. He also said that the systemic diseases are not associated with episcleritis, but only with scleritis (I have no idea if it’s true, the web says it isn’t and the other doctors I have seen also said diferrent things).
He also diagnosed an Ocular Melanosis, which he said is not a problem because of my race (50% Lybian, 50% russian, but definately look like the Lybian side) and my skin color (not definately black, but definately not white). I also have no idea if this is also accurate.
As for now, there is no pain but I will go to see another doctor for second opinion on both these issues (Ocular Melanosis is referred to cancer… not the best thing to hear about your eye).
If you happen to know much about Ocular Melanosis I will be happy to hear your opinion.
And anyway thank you very much for the reply, not obvious at all!

Thanks
