Inguinal Hernia and training

Hi there, first wanted to start by thanking you for providing such a great resource. Really appreciate the work you guys put into your videos and website.

My question is this, can I continue to lift with an inguinal hernia? More details below if required.

I recently have been diagnosed with a Inguinal Hernia right side, confirmed by ultrasound. It generally doesn’t bother unless I walk > 45 minutes or sometimes when I lift. I went in for a surgical consult and was told that the hernia was still small and I should come back in six months.

I have a simple routine dealift, backsquat, military press, and bench. I lift ~2x my body weight on DL/BS. My main goal is general health, and avoiding/delaying sarcopenia later in life. I lift 3x a week and have been doing so for the last 14 months.

We have trained many people in this situation and they tend to do just fine. We still educate folks on the potential complications to watch out for, however.
