I’ve already got a crock pot but I was thinking about picking up an instant pot too. I usually cook chicken in the CP when I’m at work and some rice in a small rice cooker. I’d like to be able to throw in some sweet potatoes and cook them too (sick of the microwave taste/feel). Plus I hear beef and oatmeal are good in the instant pot. Do u think it’s worth getting an instant pot if I already have a slow cooker and a rice cooker?
Bought a lix mini, it’s awesome.
I’ve had an insta for a few years now. Replaces a slow cooker and rice cooker. We make shredded buffalo chicken in there all the time. It’s the best. Steaming potatoes and veggies is great too. I’ve made Greek yogurt as well. That was super time consuming but interesting.
Yes, if you’re going to be making multiple things at once. Otherwise meh, it would be nice, but no real reason.
I own the older and more frightening, hissy, forerunner to the instant pot, the stove top pressure cooker. I can whip up a family feeding pea and ham soup dinner in under 45 minutes from scratch, so they’re great for convenience and tenderizing tougher cuts meat, pulses and legumes You cant however match the depth of flavor you get from slow cooking the same ingredients over 8 hours, so it depends what your looking for.
Rice? Meh… its rice. Lasts for a week refrigerated, so make a bunch on Sunday and use as needed. So long as its not mushy or overcooked, who cares…
This is one of those appliances that either you like and use or you don’t. I bought my Instant Pot Duo a year ago, and since then, it has become my favorite tool in the kitchen. Instant pot recipes I cook come out great in probably half the time of making them on the stove. I hate reheating food after it’s been cooked. But the Instant Pot can keep food warm for hours. Once the Instant Pot finishes cooking, it automatically sets to Keep Warm which stays on for up to five or 10 hours.
