Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a hoax?

Howdy,

10 years ago I was diagnosed with IBS, if isn’t a hoax, that was my first crises. Lots of abdominal pain, gases, distended stomach, diarrhea and/or constipation, incomplete bowel movement sensation. At that time I did several labs screens, and at the end the doc sealed the deal with IBS diagnosis.

Since then I changed my diet to follow FODMAP, some foods like peanuts is 50-50, eat for like weeks, then diarrhea or constipation. Never really stopped eat then, just stopped when crises hits.

Now 10 years later I am having a full crises again, constipation, incomplete bowel movement sensation, distended stomach, gases, and abdominal pain(at the point I couldn’t walk properly)

I think I saw something here on BBM that IBS is hoax, so I am questioning if I should go to a gastroenterologist again, and treat the condition, or just carry on on this crises, since it happens every 10 years?(every now or then I have some minor crises, with max 3 symptoms, and rarely pain, if so, minor pain)

We definitely don’t think irritable bowel syndrome is a “hoax” and we would recommend seeing your physician for the appropriate workup.

oh, sry jordan, I didnt expect a fast response and double posted to correct the tittle. The corrector messed it up

about the topic, yeah, I will make a appointment next week then. I am still with a minor pain at this time, I think the worst has passed already. But I will investigate, this crises hitted hard. Thanks again for your swift response

OMG! This is a serious problem!
