Large meals

Hy!
30 years old, 189 lbs, 5’10’’ bf around 11-15% (my guess)
I want to get stronger therefore I need to gain weight.
I progressively added kcals over few months and now I’m on 4000 kcal/day.
~230p, 480c, 125f
Till now I didn’t gain much weight, 3-4 lbs in few months. Now on 4000 kcal I’m making slow progress.

Here’s the question :
I’m eating 4 meals a day, sometimessjust 3. So sometimes my meal have 1500-2000 kcal. 150+ carbs

So is there a thing such as too big meals? Is that amount of food too big for a guy like me?
One more thing, I noticed that my body composition is going bad. I know I must gain fat while eating in a surplus, but I have a feeling that I did not gain any muscle while gaining fat is visible. Sry for this last silly question but I’m interested can It all be product of this large meals
Cheers

Goran,

Thanks for this. I am not sure how much weight you’re gaining per week on your current diet, but it may be too much considering your training and your genetics. That said, if you’re really 11-15% BF then this may not be the case and you may need to calm down and stay the course.

The size of your meals does not matter at all.

I’m sure that I’m not over 15%bf

So the bottom line is I’m eating too much?

Thing is that I calculated macros from the “to be a beast” article but It was so low I was loosing weight, so I gradually added kcals.

Because im on 4000 kcal two weeks ( few days more or less) and the weight is not moving. There are daily fluctuations but Im around 188 lbs most of the time

I don’t know- you haven’t told me how much you’ve gained in the past 2-3 weeks and what your waist has done.

So your weight hasn’t increased at all and you’re getting fatter? What?

I have pretty much experience with weighing and measuring food, I’m doing it 3-4-5 years.
But I have every few months couple weeks off when I dont track calorie intake. Then I sure that I eat less than I’m supposed. Can this interfere with my plan to get bigger.
I’m doing that rarely

You’re not gaining weight because you’re not eating enough. It’s that simple.

I like it simple, tnx doc

howdy, it is true the digestion have a high cost to our body ?and because of this we feel sleepy after eating large quantities of fat(things with long periods to be digested) for example.

Your body does expend energy digesting food, yes, but that is not why you feel sleep afterwards.

You feel sleepy partly because of the alkaline tide and because of psychosocial factors.
