Lipid Profile Concerns

Hello,

I recently had some bloodwork done including some in-depth lipid markers. I’m 35 years old, male, no other cardiometabolic disease or risk factors. Hemoglobin A1C is 5.1 and fasting glucose is 92. Lipid panel is as follows:

The main concerning value Lipoprotein(a) of 98.8. ApoB is “Desirable” at 80. Should I be concerned with value and discuss potential treatments with a physician such as niacin, aspirin, statins, etc.

Thanks!

I don’t see a major role for aspirin or niacin here.

However, it is worth discussing your overall risk (to include any family history of premature heart disease or aortic stenosis) with your physician, as significantly elevated Lp(a) is often a situation where we still try to lower apoB/LDL more aggressively in order to mitigate as much long-term risk as possible.
