Is there any advantage of eating 5 meals vs. 3 meals a day assuming that the total protein is the same and total calories for they day are the same? For example, 5 meals with 30 grams of protein each vs. 3 meals with 50 grams of protein each. Does the 5 meals a day example provide an extra benefit because of the additional MPS’s, or is there no meaningful distinction? Thanks!
No difference really. A handful of studies suggest eating at similar times per day keeps certain hormones involved in muscle gain and fat loss regulated more tightly, but the long term effects of eating at similar times day in and day out compared to not (but with similar calorie intake and compliance) is unknown.
