Recovering to pre-TRT levels

Is there any data available on the chances of recovering natural production after dropping TRT treatment. Also, is there any data on supraphysiologic dose recovery to normal (how long it takes on average, though I know it depends on genetics, length, dose, and other factors).

To the first question - there are far too many complicating factors that differ between individuals, making it hard to draw useful “average” conclusions without further stratification. Additionally, I would always place more of an emphasis on clinical symptoms rather than on absolute blood levels. However, here are a few references:

With respect to the supraphysiologic dose situation, this is my go-to reference: Anabolic steroid-induced hypogonadism: diagnosis and treatment - PubMed

Thank you for linking to these studies! I found it interesting that there is no evidence that TRT needs to be taken for life. I often read the opposite online (that one must take it for life). It’s also fascinating that people who stay on for longer than 6 months benefit more from the therapy when coming off.

Any idea as to why people who exercised on TRT did better coming off it than people who did not exercise? Do you think it has something to do with a permanent increase in androgen receptor concentration?

Also, why do you think it takes a year or so to see all the benefits of T? I’ve wondered why.
