Slightly high AST and Iron

Hello Doctors of Gainz,

I’ve recently had a blood examination done and I’d like to ask your opinion about follow-ups.

Background
Male, 24, 175lbs
Typically sleeping 7-8 hours.

Lifts
Running a slightly modified LP:

Squat - 250lbs 3x5
Bench - 167lbs 3x5
Deadlift - 280 lbs 1x5

Diet
I do not track my macros but I do make sure I get enough protein (more than 200g a day) while eating lots of carbs and fats. I take creatine and Vitamin D. I eat trans fat sometimes. I drink moderate amounts of alcohol 2-4 times a week. I started the LP weighting around 140lbs and have rapidly gained weight in just a few months.

Question
A blood and urine test was ordered by my dermatologist because of chronic dyshidrotic eczema. Results just came back, but my Dr. is out of office until late November. There are some abnormal results and I’m concerned about health problems that might need earlier attention. Do you think the following are cause for concern (liver, kidney problems?) and should I see a Dr. before late November?

  • AST 528 U/ml
  • Iron 28.7 umol/l
  • Hemoglobin in urine is positive.

The rest of the tests were within normal levels. Let me know if you’d need additional info to better answer the question.

Thanks a lot!
Manuel

From what sample (blood or urine) are these from and what were your other liver function tests (ALT and GGT)? Additionally, are you sure about the units on your lab measurements? Did the lab include a normal range?

Overall, I cannot really answer your question and subsequently will have to close the topic. HOWEVER, I would recommend you call your doctor to go over your lab values. This is standard of care and should be able to suss this out for you.
