Testosterone and Prolactin

I just got results back from labs that I got through my GP, and will be going to a urologist in mid-August. I was wondering if there are any scientifically proven ways to help with my hormone levels that I can start trying in the meantime.

male
age 34
194lb and ~14-15% bf according to navy calculator
Total T: 481
Free: 8.5
Prolactin: 15.9

Medication: Latuda 80mg/day, lamictal 150mg/day (note, in Sept I will be having an appointment to test out lowering my Latuda. This in and of itself should help lower my prolactin)

The nurse of my GP who called with the results said that this may be low enough to qualify for TRT (though I’d really prefer to not have to do that, and will be working with the urologist to find the best path forward).

Online, it is suggested that ashwagandha can raise free testosterone, but I’m skeptical of herbs. I also probably already get a fair amount of zinc since a large portion of my diet is animal based.

  1. Why is your testosterone level being checked in the first place?

  2. Given the medications that you are on and their potential influence on this situation (specifically Latuda increasing prolactin and subsequent effects on testosterone), I would not recommend adding any over-the-counter supplements or herbs to the mix. Not only do none of them effectively influence testosterone levels, but they have the potential to interact with your medications and physical/mental health in other ways.
