When to retest cholesterol?

Just got my cholesterol results two days ago and my ldl was 120 and my non hdl was 136. I have change my diet to include a lot more fiber to try to lower my ldl. I was wondering how long I should wait to recheck my cholesterol after this dietary change?

Depending on how aggressive the lifestyle changes are I’d expect to start to see changes within days to weeks, but it’s often wise to wait a bit longer, say after around 8-12 weeks of consistent lifestyle changes or medication treatment, to observe the maximal effects.

The exception here being if there is still active and ongoing weight loss at that point, you could still continue to observe effects beyond that.

Thanks for the information. Does fiber continue to lower ldl cholesterol at the same rate the higher you go or does the affect diminish as one consumes more fiber? Sorry for asking more than one question on one post.
