Thanks for having this forum! It’s really hard (if at all possible) to find such quality advice, especially online.
I have been having discomfort (not really a pain) around my right AC joint for the last month or so. Never paid attention to it until comparing right and left shoulder bone structures and the right one has a ~0.5cm bone thing around the AC joint. Is it common to have asymmetric shoulder bones or is it maybe inflated? I can move my arm freely, but there is an unpleasant sensation when pressing the should down with elbow tucked to the body. I will get my bench/press form checked, but should I see a doctor?
However, it’s more likely that you had this asymmetry all along, and are just now noticing it since you’re having discomfort in the area. You might have a mild AC joint sprain, arthritis, or something else entirely. As you mentioned, I would get your bench and press form checked, and as described in our pain/injury podcasts (check our YouTube channel), find a weight/ROM/lift that you can use without pain. I’ve rehabbed a few folks’ AC joint issues with pin presses, for example.
Thank you Austin! I probably had it all along and I don’t have any issues when lifting, only after when everything hurts anyway. But yeah I recorded the press and will post on the SS forum, bench is next. Thanks again. Also, I watched pretty much all Barbelmedicine podcasts =) you guys are great!
