Addison's, training without stress dose

Hi, I’m a 63-year-old male with Addison’s disease and hypothyroidism (both diagnosed in 1989), training twice a week since 2015. I find that I feel fine (no addisonian symptoms) and recover pretty easily without increasing my glucocorticoid dosage on days that I train. I understand that cortisol levels normally do rise for some time after training, so I’m failing to simulate that; on the other hand, maybe it’s just as well since cortisol is reputed to be catabolic. So here’s my question: is it likely that I’m missing out on gains, or anything else important, by not bumping up my glucocorticoids when I train, given that I feel all right without doing so?

Thanks very much,
Jim

Hey!

I don’t think you’re missing out on anything important in your situation. If you’re feeling good peri-workout, have no addisonian symptoms, and have the all-clear from your endocrinologist, carry on!
