AHA paper on resistance training

The AHA recently published a paper on resistance training that includes some specific recommendations, something physical activity guidelines have been missing. https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/epdf/10.1161/CIR.0000000000001189

Apologies if you’ve covered this already.

Yea, we’ve seen this, but thanks for bringing it up!

On the plus side, they do provide specific examples of movements in the paper. On the negative, their specific recommendations for programming are not great and are copy/pasta of the existing guidelines…but still without any sort of program. They also did not take the opportunity to actually comment on areas within their purview that are currently grey, e.g. RT after MACE, RT in with well managed heart failure, and so on.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed in the paper.
