Bending Bars....and Sound?

Good Afternoon BBM Team!

Wrapped up the Bridge v.1 last week, took a weekend hiatus (nice weather, bike rides and bbq, good for the soul maybe not the Gainzzz)

Decided yesterday I would go for a new 1RM PR on DL simply because in the 8 weeks of the Bridge ego rode back seat and I thought Id let it take the new muscles/nervous system out for a spin.

Previous best was 405x1 @ 8 getting into the Bridge. Previous best 3/4 through the Bridge at ~8-8.5 was 445 (so numbers went up yay!)

Worked all the way p to 445 for 1 @7 and thought “Damn that was easy”…Waited 10 minutes or so and tried 465 @8 and it also moved well…I then got stupid and slapped on 5 plates and said ok maybe 495 can happen today. MAYBE BBM PROGRAMMING IS THAT GOOD!!!

It did not. I got it up to my knees but couldn’t lock it out…(upon video review I shifted weight to my heels, the bar drifted away from my body and momentum was halted. But bar speed wasn’t bad until that point).

What WAS BAD? At the top of my lift the music in the gym appeared to “bend” like someone bending a guitar string but it was the WHOLE DAMN SONG. Super off-putting and never had that happen before. I was definitely pulling maximally (which maybe I’ve never truly done) but yoikes scoobs it was superbly un-cool. No pain, blood or after effect, no effect on training, not actually worried…but cautiously interested.

Any experience with this or heard of it before?

'ppreciate ya.

Yup, sounds pretty normal to me  I anecdotally hear it happen to a lot of people, myself included during a heavy press. If I’m not mistaken, it’s related to acute high blood pressure in your head. Sound warps, vision warps, consciousness alters, etc. Probably similar to what people experience before fainting.

Grats on the PRs!

Thanks llafin, appreciate the feedback. Glad to hear I’m not alone.
