Which template would you recommend for someone who is looking to get better at the heavy throwing events, most notably shot put? Are there any extra considerations I should take into account, apart from actually practicing the throws?
I’m taking part in a for-fun sporting event late this summer with some friends. Two of the events are the javelin and the shot put, and while this is a totally jokey and possibly slightly tipsy event, I do actually kind of want to see how far I can chuck those things. I’m not particularly naturally explosive, but I’m not at the bottom end of the spectrum either. I’ve just always wanted to be better at this sort of thing because throwing heavy stuff is cool and being able to move fast(er) in general is an appealing idea.
Anyways, any direction you could give me would be much appreciated. Thank you.
I don’t feel strongly about them over, say, jump squats or trap bar deadlift jumps. That said, high velocity force production is trained in all of these movements.
What slots do you recommend I stuff the push press and power cleans into? I was wondering if I should have one of the alternate stance squat slots be jump squats as well…
I’m assuming the push press could just become my main vertical press exercise?
