Hi. Read your first article, and anxiously waiting for parts 2 and 3. But until then… I got my numbers at my annual physical and they jumped a bit - curious what you think, and if any type of change is necessary.
I am 38, 5-11, 220. 37 inch waist. Sedentary job but train 4-5 times per week. Don’t eat processed or junk foods, but also don’t eat many vegetables or fruits. Diet is fairly consistent and built around eggs, low-far dairy, oatmeal, and meat.
Numbers here are from 2017/2019/2020/2021 (apparently I skipped 2018). No health changes, other than my weight has gone up about 20 pounds since 2019 (calorie surplus while training, trying to bring weight back down). Doctor suggested cutting out processed foods and working out. Don’t think he realizes that I don’t consume many processed foods and am I train regularly.
CHOL/HDL Ratio: 3 / 2.88 / 3.22 / 3.98
CHOL, Total: 207 / 193 / 187 / 227
HDL: 69 / 67 / 58 / 57
LDL: 122 / 106 / 112 / 150
NON-HDL: 138 / 126 / 129 / 170
TRIG: 78 / 98 / 83 / 98
VLDL: 20 (2021 only year I have this information)
Appreciate your thoughts. Based on what I’ve read, I’m going to try and get my weight down (I do carry too much body fat). Will include some additional low impact cardio. Might try to cut out an egg or burger here or there, but my understanding is that dietary cholesterol is unlikely to be the problem unless I’m very sensitive (which I might be, no one knows).
Thanks.
