I have a history of stomach issues. I was diagnosed with a serve case of C-Diff back in 2010 or so. I was told I had it close to a year before it was told. I don’t know how true that might be but I was out of work for a little while as I couldn’t get off the couch unless it was to die in the bathroom. Fast forward I am 33 years old and have been weightlifting for about 2-2.5 years now. I recently have been noticing that I am having some more stomach issues and I can’t seem to find much rhyme or reason to them. I had went to my primary care a few months back because I just didn’t feel right my bowel movements had increased and started to change which concerned me. My Primary care basically told me it was my diet. My diet never changed. They wanted me to go onto a FODMAPP diet. I tried it nothing really changed. Some stuff got better or at least I thought it did. I can go from having a bowel movement once a day to a bowel movement 5 times a day. At first I thought it was brought on by caffeine or pre workout but yesterday I didn’t train, I didn’t have caffeine. I had made scrambled eggs and toast and it messed my stomach up for the entire day. My wife believes i might have a form of colitis and waiting for a new doctor to see what they think. I know the logical thing might be to stop using caffeine and pre workout as they stimulate the stomach but I can’t train without, I just don’t have the energy to put in the hard effort as I do with the caffeine or pre workout.
My question is have you run into anything like this in the past with training people and is so what is the best advice to make training go easier? It sucks feeling like I have to go to the bathroom the entire day and having an upset stomach
