Hi Docs. You have talked about this before, but I would appreciate your thoughts. I’m 69, my doctor has prescribed this for me for two weeks to treat persistent prostatitis. I had a quad tendon rupture two years ago, and a biceps rupture some years before that. I am very concerned about my risk of another injury. Are these concerns legit, and if so, are there safer options for me (I just finished two weeks of Doxicycline).
Yes, I would also be concerned about this risk if you have previously had tendon ruptures, and are taking a fluoroquinolone like cipro.
I can’t speak to what your alternative treatment options are, as this requires additional information like your prior evaluation, prior antibiotic exposures, kidney function, any microbiology/culture data, etc. I would be asking your physician what alternative options you have, if any.
