Creatinine vs whey/protein and creatine

Howdy,

My creatinine test little while after I was sick(4 days before I got better), was 1.50. I got tested because I was waking up too much to pee, and the emergency doctor said everything was normal except creatinine levels, that I should go to an specialist. So 30 days later I was with the specialist, and he said 1.50 isnt in the ideal range, but I was big, my height is 5’10’', and train, plus was taking anti inflammatory because an respiratory infection little while prior the test, so is expected to have a creatinine level a little high, but I should be tested again, in the meantime no whey, creatine and antiinflamators and restrict my diet to 1,5 protein per kg.

Got retested yesterday, the creatinine result was 1.27, and creatine phosphate 350 u/l (I think normal is 200), and in my knowledge my pee status is normal now, but could be wishful thinking. Searching In my archieves, in 2017 my creatinine levels was 1.02(I but I had way less lean mass and wasnt sick prior the test, so no anti inflammatory). More stats below:

weight: 175lbs
heigth: 5’10’’
waist: 34’'(bulking)

lifts, 1rm:

DL: 341lbs
Bench press: 158lbs
Squat: 235lbs

2 question:

Should I be worried, about those creatinine(1.27) and creatinephosphate(350) results?(am I in fast track to the grave?haha)

Should I wait until be reassessed(got all the tests results, but the doctor is scheduled 3 weeks from now) by the specialist doctor before I go back to whey and creatine?

Without knowing much else about you, I would probably not be worried about a creatinine level of 1.2 in a young, healthy, trained individual.

Lots of things including anti-inflammatory medications and even simple dehydration can make that number transiently increase.

The 100 points high in creatine phosphate is a point to worry, or is irrelevant?

I see, I forgot to mention my age, 30 male, 6 years training, 2 as a powerlifting style.

We don’t routinely measure blood creatine phosphate levels, so I’m not sure what you’re referring to here.

I suppose it may have been a creatine kinase measurement, which is also not useful as a routine screening test outside of specific clinical concerns regarding muscle disorders like rhabdomyolysis or other myopathies.

thanks Austin, I did the CPK test prior to a train session(14h prior run week 4 strength template), the lab I did the test said nothing, but the other lab said I needed 24h of rest before the test. On other posts you said at least 72h, but how many days do you recommend for someone is running week 4 of strength template?

There is no absolute threshold I can give you here. The further out from your last training session the lab draw is done, the more confident you can be that the measurement is not confounded by training. The half-life of CK in the serum is about 36 hours.

And, to reiterate, it’s not clear to me why this test is being performed in your case at all unless there’s concern for a specific myopathy.
