Should I be concerned about my Creatinine and eGFR?

I’m 34 and male.

My sister (not a doctor) said I should be worried about my recent blood work. My creatinine was at 1.47 mg/dL and my eGFR was at 61. My doctor didn’t mention anything so I assumed I was fine. Should I bring this up to them or is she overreacting?

Thank you!

It depends what the bloodwork showed in addition to the Cr level. That said, this is significantly elevated and I’d want to investigate a bit more to see what, if anything, this means.

Thank you Dr. Feigenbaum. I’m seeing my doctor Friday for other symptoms I’ve been experiencing lately and will bring this up.

I talked to my doctor, said it was concerning (weird that he didn’t notice it before, being that it was the same blood work from my last visit), and blamed my use of creatine and too much protein. Even if that was the case (which I know it’s not thanks to BBM) I haven’t taken creatine in months.

I don’t have confidence in this doctor, so I’m not exactly sure what to do. I’m having numerous other symptoms lately and don’t feel like I’m getting the proper help I need.

Yea, likely unrelated to creatine (especially because you’re not using it) or supplemental protein. You may be best-served by trying to get into see another PCP that you can build rapport with and initiate your workup for these findings and symptoms.

I am going to look into another primary. Thank you for all the advice Dr. Feigenbaum, beyond just this thread as well.
