Hi Docs,
I recently had some bloodwork done, 30 days apart, to examine my creatinine levels. The first bloodwork showed creatinine = 118 umol/L after which point my family dr suggested I cease supplementation for a month and then we re-run the bloodwork. On the second blood test, reading came back as 110 umol/L which is the upper end of normal on the test results template that we have here (Vancouver, Canada).
My dr asked me if I felt the creatine did anything for me. And, honestly, I’m not sure how I would know that. I’m really relying on the research that you folks (and others) have spoken about that some people to respond to it and it’s generally quite safe to supplement.
So it was recommended that I stop taking it if I’m not sure it’s helping. I don’t feel all that strongly about it but if it was helping, I would like to continue supplementing.
How do you feel about creatine supplementation when creatinine levels are at the high end of normal? Also, if relevant, my eGFR was 67 on the second test (vs 62 on the first).
(For background, I’m 50 y/o, 6’1”, 205, 34” waist, lifting 3-4 years with last meet just under 600kg total.)
Be interested to know what you think.
Thanks!
Rod
