I was thinking if I should be worried about CTE, since I do contact sports for a long time(seven years), but not spar that frequently(one time per week), you guys have solid information about that?I tried to get at the bottom of this, but too much “high schools football players have CTE blabla bla be worried, you gonna die”, but no source. Some people says that only do light spar, but like I said before, no sources.
We don’t have a particularly robust evidence base on this condition yet, unfortunately.
From what I found, the incidence is approx. 20% in professional boxers (especially those who have fought in over 20 professional bouts), and is probably negligible in amateur boxers.
I see, thanks Austin. Since theres no strong evidence, I will continue to spar 4 days in a month, and maybe 3-5 amateur fights distributed in 5 years. I think it is a safe conservative goal, do you have thoughts on that?
