Hello. I would like to ask whether person who is diagnosed with degeneratio retinae can or cannot train. She was told by her oftalmologist that she should undergo a laser eye surgery and until then she is in permanent risk of “going blind”. So now until she undergoes this surgery we stopped the training process. Do you think it is a good decision? Thank you very much for response.
Firstly, neither of us are ophthalmologists, and cannot give confident advice on these sorts of things.
Proliferative retinopathy does present a risk in the setting of exercise, but we see this far more often in the setting of diabetic retinopathy than in the context of macular degeneration.
I’d recommend consulting with your ophthalmologist.
