Jordan, I began 5/3/1 a little over a year ago from being a rank novice . I am still making progress but I regret not doing th LP program as I think I would be much further along at this point. I’m still getting lots of reps on my final sets of the heavy week (95% of working weight) ie 5-15 depending on the lift. Would you recommend trying the LP at this point or something more intermediate? I’m a 35 year old male with calculated 1RMs of 165/276/332/468 for press/bench/squat/dead.

I’m 6’2" and 225 lbs. I bit the bullet and switched to SSLP. I backed off the weights by 10% and started adding 5 lb/workout. My bench press and press will stall very shortly as is the nature of the press and benching immediately after squatting is a big change from 5/3/1 where it gets its own day. I think that squatting 3x/week is advantageous for me at this stage. I do not miss the mental anguish of the AMRAP sets of the 5/3/1 program either. All in all, I’m really going to try to start relating my lifts to RPE as I plan on doing the bridge after LP and advanced LP yield me many more weeks of gains.
