First meet in 12 weeks: advice needed.

Hi Jordan. I’m a 25y/o Male, 180lbs, 5’4. Waist at just below navel = 34” Navy BF calculator = 21%.

I have been training with barbells in some manner since I was 15. For the past 18 months prior to BBM programming, however, was 12 months of local CrossFit classes, followed by 6 months of “comptrain” programming.

Since finding BBM and powerlifting again in the past 15 weeks, I have gone from 165lbs > to 180 by running the bridge 1.0 directly into 7 week 3 day hypertrophy. My current e1RM’s are 190kg squat, 130kg bench, 210kg deadlift.

I am 12 weeks out from my first GBPF meet here in England. I am planning on competing u83kg and maintaining my weight at 180 for the next 12 weeks whilst running the 12 Week strength template. (Macros currently 200P/300C/65F).

  1. does this sound like a good plan?
  2. For my long term competitiveness after this, do you have any inclinations as to whether you think I should be slowly dieting down and competing in the 74kg class or staying in 83kg category?

Thanks very much for your time.

TomDale,

Congrats on signing up for the meet! You’re going to have a blast.

If you’re 5’4 I think the 74kg or 83kg class is probably where you should end up to maximum performance compared to your competition, but I also think that it’s too early in your competitive career to be super concerned about where you’ll end up since this is your first meet.
