Hello, few questions about frying food.
1, Is fried food in some way potentially more harmful compared to the non-fried counterparts? (for example, fried chicken breast/boiled chicken breast)
2, If so, any way to avoid this if one enjoys a fried food once in a while?
3, Does type of oil used for frying have any impact on health? Is something like coconut oil with higher saturated fat better choice for frying than something like sunflower oil?
Thanks.
Richard,
- Potentially, but it’s hard to say 1 food is “bad” in isolation without looking at the rest of the diet.
- Potentially, depending on the person.
- Potentially, depending on the person, the fat, and the rest of the diet. I would not be able to say that using one oil over another in an isocaloric situation (with similar smoke points) is better than another without knowing the rest of the diet, the person’s medical history, etc.
