Hi,
I’ve been trying to gain weight but im having some trouble. Im a small guy, 5’5" 120lbs, and I’ve been trying to gain weight to help with getting stronger in the powerlifts. I’ve been eating as much as i can and drinking about 2 litres of milk a day. Over a month I gained about 9-10 lbs but the weight gain has been slowing down and over the past week I’ve only gained ~1lb. I dont think I can physically eat any more as I feel full and almost nauseous all day with the amount im currently eating. Do you have any tips for how I should proceed from here. Thanks.
I would aim to gain 2-4lbs per month. I’d imagine you’re eating a bit less than you were previously in addition to weighing more than you used to, which increases your energy costs. Increasing energy density (more calories per unit food volume) would be preferred here. That said, the Caloric surplus needed to gain weight is relatively modest so I don’t think you need to be eating everything in sight. Rather, a small, sustained Calorie surplus adjusted over time to produce weight gain would be the idea.
