Hey everyone, I’ve been consistently hitting my macros and fiber requirements however my food quality hasn’t been the past, I’ve been pretty busy lately and I try to eat things as fast as possible so naturally I’ve felt like shit and while I’ve made good gains I’ve been walking around like a bloated fat ass and have felt like shit, my teeth haven’t thanked me either haha. My question is what does anyone do for large amounts of carbs in a meal where you preferably don’t have to chew that much, I’ve thought of smoothies but can’t really think of anything else, anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
I have a sense of deja-vu on this Jake.
Blitzed protein shakes with oats etc I think were suggested. What else can you think of as a carb that can be blitzed, thus removing the dreaded chewing? This is of course excluding sugars etc which are an anathema to the teeth.
Generally one needs to chew when eating. Thus it is only really evident that smoothies are the only way to get enough carbs in quickly without chewing.
I suggest you slow down. I have found out over my years that no one is so busy that they can’t take 10 minutes to eat a meal. No one.
Mashed potatoes are great.
No one is so busy that they “don’t have time.” No, you don’t want to MAKE the time.
I agree with your point. Also, to be contrarian, I’ll point out that my Drill Sgt insisted that 5 minutes after the last of us sat down with our chow, we all had to be in line to drop off our trays.
I gained 20# in that 9 weeks anyways. A few of us skinny bastards had to get creative to pack in enough calories with only 5 minutes to eat.
You shouls buy microwavable rice cups. You can get like 96g of carbs down and they take 2 minutes to cook btih of them. I forgot the brand but look near the rice at the grocery store.
I also eat shakes in a blender.
1 scoop protein
1 tbsp peanut butter
2 cups of oats
2 cups of 1% milk
3 tbsp of cacao
1 banana
usually works out to 1305 kcal
80g Protein
182g Carbs
37g Fat
and you can chug it in like 1 minute.
the kcal and macros obviously depend on what protein you use and what type of milk
I’m not sure I understand the problem though. How often do you have to eat with your Drill Sgt rushing you? Rice goes down with minimal chewing. So do slices of white bread, any well cooked white potato, etc. Buy some powdered Gatorade and have a glass with your meal. Very cheap and won’t bloat you like soda.
For me, rice is the carb king. It never gets old to me, and it’s cheap. You can flavor it with a bit of broth, add vegetables to it, store it in the fridge, whatever.
