Heel pain since using squat shoes

After years of lifting in Chucks, I started using squat shoes when I started LP a couple of months ago. After about week 2, I noticed a pain in my right heel after any period of time with no weight on it. I feel fine during training, it’s just later, upon waking, after sitting at my desk or driving. The pain decreases after maybe 10 minutes of weight bearing, but never really goes away.

Seems like this might line up with what the interwebz says about plantar fasciitis, but I don’t know. None of the popular treatments for that (lacrosse ball, stretching, etc) have really made a dent in it. As an experiment, I switched back to Chucks a week ago, and it does seem to be improving, slowly. I also did a session with an SSC recently, so I’m reasonably confident that there’s no glaring form issues at play.

Have you seen this before in clients?

I have seen plenty of plantar fasciitis, though I haven’t seen it come from a switch to weightlifting shoes.

If your technique has been approved and you are squatting pain free in the flats for now, carry on.

Thank you sir!
