Hi Doctors,
I have just had my first experience of hemorrhoids (external thrombosis). My doctors have put it down to heavy squatting. One doctor said it was due to not always using a belt and the doctor at hospital said the exact opposite. I would like some guidance please?
Always would pelvic floor tension be helpful during bracing for squatting?
Cheers Ben Bartle-Ross
Those explanations are pulled out of thin air. They would have probably just made up some other answer if you hadn’t mentioned that you squat.
I don’t know what, specifically, you mean by “pelvic floor tension”, but I don’t usually coach anything specific with respect to the pelvic floor during squatting.
Thanks for the clarification about my doctors opinions.
With regards to pelvic floor tension, I thinking of using pelvic floor exercises to help hold tension in the rectal region during exercises to help prevent any more haemorrhoids.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciate?
Thanks Ben
Yeah, I think it’s unlikely that will be beneficial.
I don’t really have any training-specific recommendations to prevent these, unfortunately.
To hi-jack this: has there been any studies done on lifters and this ailment? It seems a common complaint among lifters.
Not directly, but I would reframe the assertion that hemorrhoids are very common in lifters (they aren’t). Rather, the prevalence is ~5% nationwide and some of those individuals lift weights.
Hi,
Just to keep you updated on progress.
Seen a specialist doctor, had a minor operation under local anesthesia. Now on the mend and started to get back in to my training.
This doctor made it very clear that squatting, deadlifting and other lifts do not cause this issue.
Such a shame that not all doctors give correct advice.
Thank you again for your help.
Cheers Ben Bartle-Ross
As a moderator Can you please guide me whether this Neo Healar works to recover from hemorrhoids? I am having worst hemorrhoid issue and I have taken medicine but not recovering quick as I have started using Neo Healar but I don’t know whether it works quickly or not as it been two days. Do you recommend something better to get quick recovery?
