High(er) resting Heartrate after (resistance) Exercise

Hi Guys,
long time listener of the Podcast and finally decided to sign up.

My problem is that since a few weeks I have problems with a high heart rate and lower HRV especially after resistance Exercise or Cardio at higher intensities.

Anything that triggers stress causes my resting heart rate to rise for a few hours to days into the 70-100bpm range where before 50-70 was normal.
In addition, especially in the morning I have cold hands, occasional shortness of breath and brain fog, chest pains and of course sleep problems.

Single or combination of factors I can (probably) name specifically:
Alcohol
Too much caffeine (Monster works better than coffee)
Eating junk
Sports with too high intensity
Too much sitting and sometimes driving

Factors that are more soothing :
Walking
Liss Cardio
Beta blockers (logical)

Only thing that seems to help is Metroprololsuccinate 50-100mg/day.

Heart was examined, long term ECG, long term blood pressure, stress ekg, echocardiogram etc all normal.
Chest x-ray unremarkable.
Pulmonary function test in my opinion worse than it should be for someone with my activity.
Currently testing morning and evening 1 stroke asthma spray (Foster).

I don’t know what to do and my family doctor is also a bit perplexed.
Thyroid values rather borderline low, but can that explain too high a pulse?

I hope you guys have some ideas.

P.S.:
If necessary i can translate the Bloodmarkers.

Hi,

This is getting beyond the level of complexity & detail that we can feasibly handle via a free forum, unfortunately.

With that said, I’m not entirely clear on the problem here, as it is physiologically expected for stress to increase heart rate. It is also not clear to me why you have been prescribed metoprolol succinate at all.

The Problem is that heart rate is staying elevated for at least 6hours up to 36hours and metroprolol seemed to be the only Things that helps me to get at least some sleep.
At first we thought it might be heart related, because one night i had symptoms of an MI (which was not the case) so we used metroprolol to cover the time till i got all other heart related things checked.
