Over the last several months I’ve taken two blood tests both of which reveal a white blood cell count higher than the standard range of 3.4-10.8 x10E3/uL.
November
13.8 x10E3/uL
February
11.2 x10E3/uL
Both tests were taken on training days, approximately 4 hours after a pretty typical novice linear programming training day.
I’ve read that exercise can spike the body’s WBC. Do you see these results as completely normal after a session of heavy lifting or is this something that requires further investigation and testing?
I am 37 year old male, 5’8", 178 lbs and feel great.
These numbers aren’t super high, but I’d like to see the white cell differential.
I’d just plan to get it repeated at some point, not right after training . For example, if you’re on the novice LP, do it Monday morning before you train. This is generally our advice for any test where there’s concern for influence from training.
I’ve been referred to a hematologist. I’ll arrive untrained for the day and hopefully another test will clear everything up. Thanks for you time and knowledge.
