I’ve always struggled with very sensitive skin (eczema, allergies etc.) and after some diet experimentation I have determined that my body might not handle a very low fat diet (i.e < 20%)
Would you have any general advise for someone who is trying to incorporate highers fats within the context of strength and hypertrophy? General goal like many is to get stronger and more jacked and hold onto muscle as I age. Not interested in competing. I also tend to get fat more quickly in my belly and butt region. Currently doing the Bridge again after 3 day Hypertrophy.
Age - 42 years
180lbs - 36 1/2 inch waist (from approx 38 inch and 187lbs)
5,9 (just shy),
24% body fat.
Macros P = 40%, C = 40%, F = 20% – approx 2100 cals.
The crux of it is - I want to put on about 15-20lbs, and then recomp to reduce the inevitable fat accumulation (I seem to quickly gain belly fat) . If I want higher fats % in my diet do you see any issues in just increasing the fat% and reducing the carb% to meet daily calorie goal during recomp?
I think it doesn’t work as well and produces slightly more fat gain on average at the extremes. If you wanted to do stick to a certain percentage of macros, 30/40/30 seems reasonable but I think carbs work better in this instance.
