So I’ve just started the Hypertrophy 1 template and I’m not really sure of the best way pick the appropriate weight for my 70% AMRAP as I have no previous history with this movement.
Can anyone advise on the best way of doing this?
300 pounds 1 RPM w/ bar X 75% = 225 pound 1 RPM w/dumbbells
225 X 70% =157.5 pounds, round up to 160 pounds
Use 80 pound dumbbells
How accurate is 75%? Its a ball park figure. People who regularly dumbbell press probably should use a slightly higher conversion ratio as they have the muscle memory down, but 75% will put you in the ballpark.
In the q&a forum Jordan said for the first time just work up to a weight you can get for about 10 reps and you can figure your e1RM from there to get your 63% for the next sets.
