Increasing Daily Water Intake in Overrated?

In my area, Most of the people around me advocate about drinking more water during a day. My friends, relatives, peers, they all seem to believe in the power of drinking much water with respect to health. They, throughout the day, carry a bottle of water with them and force themselves to drink it, even though they don’t feel thirsty.

From my perspective, having no background of studying water intake over health benefits, I genuinely believe in that this shouldn’t be that much case as long as you drink water when you feel thirsty.
I observed that one who thinks increasing water intake eases functions of their organs & help their metabolites and don’t participate in physical activity in a way that meets general guidelines is “low”.

So far, I haven’t been able to come across any document & podcast from barbell medicine crew that states & advocates the amount of recommended daily water intake with respect to prioritizing health. Why? What is the science behind this. Do you think that it is overrated to think increasing water intake as a way to help our body to function.

There are not generally recommended daily water intake guidelines for health or performance and the science is VERY complicated. I wouldn’t try and increase water to improve health or performance necessarily, as your body is really, really good at getting what it needs provided someone doesn’t have a medical issue that affects water intake or balance. Thus, the reason why we haven’t written about it or done a podcast about it is because this is a TWOUD.
