If a person has been doing keto how do you switch them back to carbs without out change in weight? Such as they’re eating >50g carbs 350g of fat and 150 grams of protein and weigh 185lb. If carbs are 4 calories per gram and fat is 9 per gram would you do this via calories or grams?
Depends on the context. Is there anything that we need to be at a certain weight for in the next few weeks? If so, I’ll do it gradually. If not, I’ll rip the bandaid off.
Mainly, the real question would be why do we care about the short term change in weight that’ll settle out over 2-3 weeks.
Mainly changing the diet for a sport specific client. This person rides competitive motocross and doesn’t want to gain weight even 1 pound. I’ve told him keto isnt the best idea for such a high endurance sport and hes come to trust me since our strength sessions have been going well. He doesn’t like to eat alot mainly just eats small fatty foods before and after practice, same with training. Refuses to eat meals, hes difficult to work with he is a person who thinks eating will be his demise. So in a way if theres a specific way to calculate this to where he wont gain weight then I’d like to switch him to a normal healthy diet.
Yea, having raced at a very high level before the premise doesn’t make sense. If he gains a pound or two due to glycogen storage flux or GI transit changes it is inconsequential entirely.
That all being said, if he won’t eat or follow your advice, what can you do? If there’s a diagnosable eating disorder, I’d refer appropriately.
There’s no way to make a dietary change and ensure nothing changes weight wise.
