Left and Right Arm Strength Disparity

Greetings Docs!!

I’m continuously amazed at the quality content the BBM team makes available for free or very reasonable prices. There are competitors charging 2-3x as much for way less and I know this from personal experience. Thank you and the BBM team!!

My question:

I am a very right arm dominant person (Throw, right, punch, etc). My right arm is stronger and bigger (not that I’ve measured

Not sure what happened on my original post with it being cut off. I tried to repost my topic, but it was cut off as well!! Below is my thread:

My question:

I am a very right arm dominant person (Throw, right, punch, etc). My right arm is stronger and bigger (not that I’ve measured ) than my left arm. This strength disparity has been demonstrated via dumbbell bench, press, and curls. However, when I strain under a heavy barbell bench or press, my right left arm locks out first and then my right catches up, almost like my left is stronger.

Interested to hear your insight into this and if it’s advantageous (I’m not a body builder so not concerned with aesthetics) to do any left arm specific training?

Thanks as always!

Hey Lee,

Got a video of this on press or bench press?

Jordan,

Apologies for the delay, had to get to my training days for the week so I could video.

My left arm locking out first is observable in both the bench and press videos posted below. It begins slightly with 2-3 reps remaining and then is exacerbated as I begin to “grind it out”. In the press video, you can even observe me having to “chase” the lockout towards the end.
