Life Scan

I have been a firefighter for 17 years. This past year, my department has really been pushing the idea that we are twice as likely to get various kinds of cancer and are encouraging us to get a Life Scan, which is not covered by insurance. I am concerned that that the Life Scan poses a greater risk of unnecessary concern/tests/treatment than actually being helpful. I also know that you generally do not recommend screening for the sake of screening. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. Thank you. Jay
