Hello,
I work for a Fire Department and we just got a new department doc. For everyone over 40 he is requiring a chest x-ray and CT Scan/Calcium score (every 5 yrs if good) and a yearly blood panel and Hemoccult test. My instructions were “no vigorous exercise for 24 hrs” prior to the CT.
My question is what constitutes vigorous and how hard and fast is the 24 hrs? I’d like to get my day 4 lifts in Thursday afternoon and my test is Friday afternoon. But I’d like to not have whack results for my exam when the Doc has a say in my employment status.
Thank you very much for any feedback.

This screening program makes no sense and is not based on any good evidence.
Additionally, I am not aware of any reason why vigorous exercise in the immediate preceding 24 hours would impact a coronary calcium scan.
Thank you I appreciate your response!
I am not surprised. I am hopeful for the best but there have been a couple statements that qualify as “watch outs” in my estimation. Maybe I’m off base but his introductory bio stated he is a MD and Metabolic Health Practitioner and plans to advise us on nutrition and test us for things that “mainstream medicine ignores” among other statements. I don’t know what he means by that, but I’ll find out next month.
Yeah, your intuition is likely accurate.
This guy sounds like a quack.
