maintaining over a wide range of calories.

I have recently began a cutting phase where I am aim to loose around 2kg a month for a few months (starting at 92kg).

I was previously gaining weight at 3400 kcal and then i appeared to be maintaining weight at 3300 and 3100 kcal so i lowered it again to 2800 calories for two weeks and there has been no noticable weight loss. It seems strange to me that i can maintain (or at least appear to maintain) from 2800 - 3300.

possibly important notes:

  • I am eating the same foods and using the same method to track calories.
  • i have just switched from the strength II template to the powerbuilding II template

Is this somthing that you see commonly and would have an explanation for? I have thought it could be related to NEAT which ive heard you speak about a few times.
how would you reccomend approaching these situations now and also in future? (I had a similar expierience when trying to gain weight aswell). I would be hesitant to jump from ~ 3500 - 2600 next time i would decide to cut weight just from anticipation.

any advice is appreceated.

thanks.

It’s only about 500 Calories so I don’t think this is too strange. I’d either give it another week or pull another 200 Calories. I don’t think NEAT has likely changed a significant amount during this short time.
