MATADOR diet?

What’s your view of the MATADOR diet, which is essentially cycling two weeks of calorie restriction with two weeks of eating at maintenance? For example, Intermittent energy restriction improves weight loss efficiency in obese men: the MATADOR study | International Journal of Obesity. Assuming equal compliance, do you think it’s any better than longer periods of calorie restriction?

I think it’s not a great way to generate significant long term weight loss, but periods of calorie cycling may work well for compliance reasons, sure.
