Men vs Women Weight Loss

Hello docs,

I can’t remember which podcasts the study was talked about but can someone link the study in which I believe Jordan discussed how men and women can gain muscle and/or lose weight at relatively the same rate. I think it was discussed earlier in the year maybe like quarter 1 or 2.

Thanks!

We haven’t really talked about relative weight loss rates, but we often talk about how relative strength and muscle mass gain rates are not sex dependent. When searching for this, what have you found?

Ahhh yes, my apologies. That’s what I was looking for, the relative strength and muscle mass gain rates are not dependent. Do you by chance remember which podcast this was discussed on?

I have found a few articles, this being one of them
(Comparison of upper body strength gains between men and women after 10 weeks of resistance training - PMC). I just remembered you talking about gain or loss (couldn’t remember) comparing men and women and it being relatively similar.

We’ve discussed this on a number of podcasts, but I don’t recall off hand if we went in-depth on one (or more) of them.

I don’t think I’ve ever discussed sex-dependent body composition changes during periods weight loss, but I would predict them to be similar.
