Muscular endurance deficit?

Hello,

I take a group of people for physical training. I have noticed that someone in the group who is physically stronger and in better cardiovascular condition than most seems to fatigue more quickly than many others when conducting Sled pushes/pulls or Weighted carries.

Would this indicate a lack of strength endurance? If so how would you go about fixing this?

Appreciate all the knowledge you share.

Thank you for any input.

A few possibilities here.

Scenario #1- they are able to push themselves extremely hard, e.g, a sprint during this work, and fatigue as expected.

Scenario #2- Their cardiorespiratory fitness is not as good as good as predicted, which makes them fatigue earlier than predicted.

I would favor scenario #2 and would address it through dedicated conditioning work.

Thanks for the response.

I think you’re right with regards to scenario #2. I’ve recommended he looks at some of your templates, particularly the Endurance, one of the titans or even Hypertrophy 1. We have mandatory training 3 times a week which consists of 1 run, 1 circuit and 1 Weighted walk/Run and carries.

Any preferences on which template he could use that either includes extra Conditioning (titan) or would give good strength stimulus whilst leaving energy for extra Conditioning?

I don’t know much about his background or preferences, but I think General S/C I or one of the Titan templates would be cool.

In such a scenario, is there a particular type of conditioning that would be more beneficial? E.g., would focusing on HIIT help this more, is the LISS more beneficial, or should it be the 80/20 LISS/Interval split still be the way to go?

HIIT would rarely be my first choice for someone lacking conditioning unless that’s the only thing they’ll do. I would start with LISS, for sure.
